Department 9 - MARKET HOGS
Rules for Market Hog Show:
-
Market hogs will show by breeds. No registration papers are needed. Animals must meet the color standards for that breed to be eligible to show as a breed. Others will show as crossbreds.
-
There is no minimum number to make a breed.
-
Breed classes will show in alphabetical order followed by the crossbreds. Each exhibitor will classify and enter their own hog. If the judge does not feel the hog meets the breed standards it will be moved to the appropriate crossbred class: Berkshire, Chester White, Duroc, Hampshire, Hereford, Landrace, Poland China, Spots, Yorkshire, light colored crossbreds (no black hair or skin), and dark colored crossbreds.
-
The champions of each breed and crossbreds will show for Overall Grand and Reserve Champion and sale order. There will be no awards other than ribbons for winning your breed.
-
There will be no official weigh-in. Exhibitors will turn in their own weights. After placing the animals may be reweighed and must be within 5 lbs. of the turned in weight or will be disqualified. Weigh backs will be random or at the request of the judge.
-
Market hogs must be barrows or gilts.
